Physiotherapy is beneficial to individuals with Bell's palsy as it maintains muscle tone of the affected facial muscles and stimulates the facial nerve. Muscle re-education exercises (facial expression exercises) and soft tissue techniques (massage) are useful in restoring normal movement hence Mime therapy is a type of physiotherapy which demands a highly-refined sense of body and muscle control with a series of mime-like Active facial expressions. Electrical stimulation is used to stimulate (EMS) muscles, nerves to strengthen muscles and reduce edema for facial nerve paralysis. Combination of Mime and Conventional therapy aims to promote symmetry of the face at rest and during movement to control Synkinesis.
