Assessment is an excellent tool and there are many purposes to implement and to adopt in academic libraries. The purpose of assessment is to improve the progress towards advancement in academic library. The major role of the academic library is to provide information academically to its users. Assessment helps to fulfill academia objectives which are learning, teaching, and research. Library is a place where these objectives can be accomplished by conducting periodical and systematic assessment in library. Another purpose of library assessment is to identify users' pulses, their needs, likes and dislikes. Because users are considered as customers and library must understand customers' needs to serve them in an efficient manner as they are best judges. The third purpose of assessment, to provide feedback to the library authorities and higher management in order to improve wherever required and manages and maintains the existing library services. This kind of feedback helps the management's involvement to improve infrastructure and implement modern technologies, by consideration of development of the library.
