This study was intended to examine the major factors which affect learners' choice of English Language and Literature as a field of study. The study is conducted on first year students of CSSH in 2015/16 academic year. Both quantitative and qualitative methods are used to gather data using questionnaire and interview. Among 555 students in the college, 112 students from all departments are involved in the questionnaire while 22 students were participated in the interview. For the questionnaire, stratified random sampling technique is employed while purposive sampling is implemented for the interview. The data collected through questionnaire were analyzed using descriptive statics, frequency and percentage whereas descriptive and interpretative analyses were used to analyze the qualitative data collected through interview. The finding of the study revealed that learners' choice is primarily influenced by the availability of job opportunity.
