Dem bedürfnis unserer zeit scheint es mir zu entsprechen, dass die wissenschaftliche etymologie von der durch Fick inaugurierten lexikographischen behandlungsweise wieder etwas mehr einlenke in die weiland von Pott so erfolg reich beschrittenen bahnen der zusammenhängenden, begrün denden und untersuchenden darstellung, oder wenigstens dass jene erstere betriebsart nunmehr im erhöhten masse durch systematisches arbeiten in der andern manier und richtung ihre ergänzung finde. In diesem sinne sind die untersuchun gen entstanden, die ich hiermit als etymologische parerga' zu veröffentlichen beginne.
