Excerpt from Description of the Patent Rolls in the Tower of London: To Which Is Added an Itinerary of King John, With Prefatory Observations
Rolls, extending from the year 1200 to 1488 is preserved in the Archives of the Tower of London and the latter portion, commencing at the accession of' Edward the Fifth and termi nating with the 5lst year of the reign of King George the Third, is among the muniments deposited in the Rolls Chapel, Chancery Lane From that period to the present time they are kept in the Petty Bag Othee.
