The apostle, in this phrase, the foolishness of preaching, must be understood ironically or as speaking after the manner of unbelievers. He says, yer. 18, The preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness but unto us who are saved, it is the power of Goc. Both the matter, and the man ner, Of the primitive preachers Of Christianity, were thought meanly Of by those who opposed themselves more especially by the learned Gentiles.
