By 2005 South Sudan became an attractive country for investment in the region. People from all over the world were coming seeking for investment opportunities as the country was about to fully take control of its oil resources which make up of 98% of her income. Juba City was the center of these activities. In less than two years the number of economic immigrates from Kenya, Uganda, Ethopia, Rwanda, Sudan as well as from Eritrea grown significant. Kenyan took control of banking sector, Eritrean and Ethiopian took a lead in Hotel and Road construction as well as in general trade in the country. While Uganda took over food and Vehicle supply. Somalian controlled Fuel supply to the country. This book is attempting to discuss opportunities and challenges facing investment in the Republic of South Sudan. It explores the role of government in creation of friendly or negative environment for investors. Juba City has two main functions, one it is the national capital of the youngest country in the world and secondly, it is the capital city of Jabek State, the successor of Central Equatorial State which has a very influential position as far as investment is concern.

Prof. Dr. Melha Rout Biel is the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Professor of Politics and International Relations at Dr. John Garang Memorial University of Science & Technology. He holds LLB. B.A. LL.M. M.A. & PhD. in Political Science from Friedrich-Schiller University in Jena Germany.
