The novel is about a small town by the side of a rivulet adjoining the border of Bangladesh, which was once a hamlet. A hermit had build a temple there and when he died the place was left abandoned which became infested by smugglers and traffickers. As the hamlet grew into a town, the people decided to clear up the crumbled temple and build a health center. But a real estate dealer thought otherwise. He thought to change this place into a Country Club and a picnic spot. The people objected and so began the resistance of its inhabitance against big money. The characters in this story emerge from every nooks and cranny of the settlement and each having their stories to tell.
