Any proposed trial of the effectiveness of an intervention should be preceded by a smaller pilot to assess the feasibility of a definitive trial when carried out in an under-researched area or a new setting. It has been shown from the literature search that there is not a substantial body of literature on KMC and that this is significantly more limited when focusing on KMC in LBW infants. There is also the question of whether such a trial could be carried out in the country of Saudi Arabia.
