In 1925, the present publishers requested the State Historical and Natural History Society Of Colorado to undertake the preparation Of a History Of Colorado. It seemed to the Board Of Directors of the Society that there was a real need for such a publication, if written by men of special knowledge and training; and the work was under taken ih commemoration Of the then approaching semi centennial Of the admission Of Colorado to statehood.
