Food and nutrition security is a complex issue with a multidimensional concepts. This book focuses on the concepts and determinants of food and nutrition security at household level in a rural village near the Sinharaja rain forest in Sri Lanka. The study reveals the actual status of food and nutrition security and its various determinants, particular to the study area. Moreover, this study identifies the potential of promoting home gardening and utilization of wild foods to improve the food and nutrition security of rural families. The research techniques applied in this study can be applied to any country to assess the current situation of food and nutrition security and can be used to identify the strategies at micro level to upgrade the status of household food and nutrition security.
