About the author

Adele Whitby wishes she lived in a grand manor home with hidden rooms and tucked-away nooks and crannies, but instead she lives in the next best thing - a condo in Florida with her husband and their two dogs, Molly and Mack. When she's not busy writing, you can usually find her reading and relaxing on the beach under a big umbrella. She loves getting lost in a good story, especially one set in a faraway place and time.

Summary

In the second book, Beth travels across the Atlantic to stay at her cousin Kate Vandermeer's lavish Rhode Island mansion. But the trip is cut short when news comes in about the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and the possibility of war means that Beth is ordered to return home. Beth and Kate come up with a plot to hide Beth so she can stay for the whole summer as planned. Kate knows just the perfect hiding place: a wing of the manor that is rumoured to be haunted. Kate learns that there is no ghost, only to uncover something even more unbelievable: Someone who has been hidden away and who has a memory of the past and secrets that she's been keeping for generations . . .
