Aussi quelle joie, lorsque peu d'années plus tard il me fut donné d'entendre Don Juan aux Italiens, chanté par Grisi, Mario et La blache; quand plus tard encore, admis par un heureux hasard dans l'intimité de Gounod, j'eus le bonheur de lui en tendre interpréter et commenter cette oeuvre célèbre que je savais par coeur Il ne faut donc pas s'étonner si en ou vrant le livre de l'illustre compositeur je n'y ai rien trouvé de bien nouveau pour moi. Mais combien peu de lec teurs se trouveront dans cette situation.
