Ma naissance même semblait m'interdire les honneurs qu'on m'offrait je suis né dans Paris de parents angevins et beaucerons. Mais, si l'on y songe, on se persuadera que si Paul Arène et Albert Tournier m'ont desi gné, c'est surtout en considération de cette origine étrangère. Ils ont voulu qu'un barbare, qui fut leur hôte, portât témoignage en leur faveur. Je le ferai de bon coeur, et pour l'a mour des Félibres et des Cigaliers qui vont de ville en ville honorant les poètes.
