Bamberg a l'honneur d'être le second berceau de l'imprimerie. Quatre années seulement le séparent de Mayence. Le premier imprimeur de Bamberg est Al brecht. Pfister, auquel on attribue la Bible de 36 lignes mais les premiè res impressions datées et portant son nom sont: le J cyan de Bonner (1461) et le Livre des quatre Histoires (1482)
