Blau gehüllt, infolge der dicken Atmosphäre, zwar hören wir vielleicht auch die Dampfpfeifen der Schiffe. Die Aussicht sperrt aber ein kleiner, unscheinbarer Wall, der sich, soweit das Auge reicht, hinzieht. Das Vieh aut seiner Höhe hebt sich groß gegen den Horizont ab. Einzelne Zäune laufen quer über ihn hin, sonst unterbricht nichts die einförmige Linie. Es ist der Seedeich. Mit einer gewissen Geringachtung betrachtet man ihn. Man hat sich ihn imponierender vorgestellt.
