Lukian gibt in der Einleitung seiner 'wahren Geschichte' dem Leser die Versicherung, daß zwar alles darin erlogen sei, aber nicht das Geringste ganz frei erfunden: jeder Zug habe sein Gegenbild bei alten Dichtem und Erzählern und Philo sophen, und der kundige Leser werde ohne weiteres in jedem Fall erkennen, worauf er ziele. Wie selten freilich wir noch in der Lage sind, eine bestimmte Quelle fur diese tollen Pos sen nachzuweisen, ist aus Rohde's klassischem Buch zu ent 'nehmen. So mag es nicht ganz unwillkommen sein. Wenn einmal wieder fur eine Kleinigkeit das ciudprupov oööév o'csiöo1 des Lukian sich bestätigt.
