Dr. Lisa Maxwell Arter is an award-winning educator, author, and scholar with nearly 30 years of experience working with adolescents and teens, and over a decade of experience preparing future teachers. As Director of English Education and a longtime leader in state and national literacy organizations, she brings deep expertise in adolescent development, curriculum design, and life-readiness education. Dr. Arter has planned and led statewide English education conferences, chaired initiatives that celebrate outstanding teachers, and designed outreach programs that connect teens to meaningful learning beyond the classroom. Her research spans adolescent development, curriculum innovation, and the role of education in supporting students’ social-emotional and life-readiness skills in a rapidly changing world.
