“The author has a lot of experience with this age of student. I would love to see [this book] in the hands of all kindergarten classroom teachers in my building so that they all would have a common understanding of the beginning writing process.” -Carla Chavez, reading specialist, Prairie Park Elementary, Lawrence, Kansas
“Ruth is an accomplished educator and scholar and it shows. The book's strength is the number and quality of student writing samples and detailed commentary on them.” -Kathryn Egawa, National Council of Teachers of English Associate Executive Director, 1999-2005
