One of the oldest beliefs in racing is that it takes several years of track time before a young driver gains the experiences needed to win at the NASCAR Winston Cup Series level. That notion, however, has been shattered in recent years, thanks in large part to the rising "young guns" of the NASCAR scene.Fans, team owners, and the media alike have noticed the sport's new key players, and have begun to take notice of their winning ways. Young Guns features key racers like Tony Stewart, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Ryan Newman, Kurt Busch, and Jeff Gordon, first of the "young guns, " now 31, who opened many doors for other rookies when he burst onto the NASCAR scene, winning his first Winston Cup championship during his third season.Race fans and the public now know that these young guns are a major factor in NASCAR Winston Series racing. These up-and-coming stars are poised to help carry the sport into the future. Developed with the Charlotte Observer, the most knowledgeable broadsheet covering NASCAR today, Young Guns features full-color photo pictorial fan celebrations of eight of the hottest names in NASCAR Winston Cup Racing. Each "young gun" is profiled in depth from his rookie year to his current winning results. Young Guns is essential reading not only for the fan in the grandstands, but also for the serious student of the sport.
