This book is dedicated to the textile translations of different aspects of the element water. Detailed step-by-step tutorials offer an exciting and entertaining approach to textile surface design for beginners. At the same time, advanced quilters find lots of inspiration for their own experiments in the unusual and unconventional techniques. In 14 chapters, miniquilts are made in the shape of textile book pages which are based on diverse techniques (e. g. free-motion quilting, appliqué, chenille, mola by machine etc.). The chapters build onto each other so that "Water Variations" are an excellent basis for working with textile surface design.Michaela Mosmüller has worked for years with textile surface design as an independent artist and teacher in her Austrian hometown Marbach on the Danube river. Her quilts have been exhibited at exhibtions in Europe and in the USA.
About the author
The Austrian artist and book author had been working with different techniques for the design of textile surfaces for many years before she started her career as independent textile artist and instructor in 2008.
In her textile works she always looks for the special and extraordinary. In doing so, she keeps experimenting with various textile materials and develops original, sometimes even unconventional techniques to realize the desired optical effects and bring the mostly nature-inspired motifs alive.
In her book Water Variations, published in co-operation with Quilt around the World in spring 2017, Michaela Mosmüller explains various textile interpretations of the multi-faceted element water.
