Acute and sublethal profenofos exposure had a significant impact on the haematological, ionoregulation, biochemical, enzymalogical, antioxidant enzyme activities, genotoxicity and histopathological profiles of fish L. rohita. The alterations of these parameters may provide a early warning signals for the determination of acute and sublethal toxic level of pesticides and their effects in aquatic medium. The ndings of the present study also provide a better understanding of the toxicological endpoint of aquatic pollutants and to ascertain a safer level of these chemicals in the aquatic environment and protection of aquatic habitants.
