About the author

Umakanth Varottil is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore. He specializes in corporate law and governance, mergers and acquisitions, and cross-border investments. While his work is generally comparative in nature, he focuses particularly on India and Singapore. He has co-authored two books on Singapore law and practice, published articles in international journals and founded the Indian Corporate Law personal website. Prior to his foray into academia, Umakanth was a partner at a pre-eminent law firm in India.Wai Yee Wan is Associate Professor of Law at Singapore Management University. Immediately prior to joining academia, she was a partner at a local law firm, where she practiced in the areas of mergers and acquisitions as well as equity capital markets. Her main areas of research are in mergers and acquisitions, corporate law and securities regulation. She has published widely in journals, including the Journal of Corporate Law Studies, the Journal of Business Law, Company and Securities Law Journal and Lloyds' Maritime and Commercial Law Quarterly. She has co-authored Mergers and Acquisitions in Singapore: Law and Practice (with Umakanth Varottil, 2013).
