The quality of higher education has been recognized around the world as one of the most important parameters for economic and social development. Globalization and the growing diversity of students have necessitated quality improvement initiatives at different institutions. Simply having mission and vision statements about quality is no longer adequate to meet stakeholders' increasing demand for quality. Higher education institutions are striving to achieve higher quality by developing innovative approaches and processes. By exploring quality assurance policies and standards around the world and examining factors that contribute to quality, such as motivation, learning styles, teaching styles, accreditation, and metacognition, Quality in Higher Education provides the research and analysis needed to develop institutional initiatives to improve quality. Higher education administrators, policy makers, department chairs, faculty, and other stakeholders will be equipped with relevant theories and assessments to develop sustainable quality. Quality of higher education has become a global issue that is critical for developing human resources with superior intellectual abilities and skills needed to succeed in competitive global environment.
About the author
Dr. Quamrul H. Mazumder received his bachelor's degree in Bangladesh and PhD in the United States. He held different leadership positions in engineering before returning to an academic position. His research focuses on student learning, motivation, metacognition, teaching and learning styles, quality of higher education, globalization of education, and other related areas. He is recognized as a global leader and expert in quality and assessment of higher education. He has been providing services and expertise for higher education quality improvement initiatives of Bangladesh, where he has conducted numerous workshops, seminars, and training for faculty, administrators, and students. He served as a Fulbright Scholar in Bangladesh in 2013, where he developed curriculum and assessment processes for a graduate engineering program. Dr. Mazumder is currently an associate professor of mechanical engineering at University of Michigan-Flint, USA.
