About the author

R. J. Uncles has worked on estuarine and coastal projects at the Plymouth Marine Laboratory and overseas since gaining a Ph.D. in Physics from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, London (1972) and has published numerous research articles. He is an Associate of the Royal College of Science, a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and was President of the Estuarine and Coastal Sciences Association (ECSA) between 2009 and 2012.S. B. Mitchell lectures at the School of Civil Engineering and Surveying at the University of Portsmouth, having gained a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Birmingham in 1998. He serves as editor-in-chief for the Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science journal and is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers. Results of his extensive estuarine and coastal field work have been published widely.

Summary

A practical guide to the latest techniques to measure sediments, seabed, water and transport mechanisms in estuaries and coastal waters. Covering a broad range of topics, enough background is included to explain how each technology functions. A review of recent fieldwork experiments demonstrates how modern methods apply in real-life scenarios.
