Probation is one of the most under researched and under utilized area especially in the context of Indian Law. The purpose of this work is to mainstream the probation service in Indian Jurisprudence by citing functional practices and instances in various other jurisdictions. The author hopes that the Indian judges and legislators take cognizance of probation while contemplating reformative policy for the offenders in Indian jurisdiction.

Raghav Pandey is a Research Fellow with the Humanities Department of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai. He has been an alumnus of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences Mumbai, Indian Law Institute, New Delhi and National Law University, Lucknow. He works in the area of Law, Economics, Politics and Public Policy.
