Jirô, jeune employé sans histoire, doit rejoindre un ami
à Osaka pour une promenade dans la campagne
japonaise. Mais rien ne se passe comme prévu et son
ami se désiste. Jirô retrouve alors sa famille, et avec eux
les déchirements d'un clan qu'il aime profondément
tout en souhaitant le quitter. Tel un révélateur, cette
succession de contretemps lui laisse entrevoir une forme
de vérité sur sa propre existence, d'ordinaire masquée
par les conventions sociales ou la musique des habitudes.
Le voyageur est une quête personnelle et philosophique,
interrogeant la nature profonde des relations humaines.
