This book presents an innovative hybrid desalination cycle, called MED+AD cycle. The thermodynamic synergy between two thermally-driven desalination processes (MED & AD) boost water production up to two folds at the same top-brine temperatures (TBT). Theoretical model and experimental results of MED+AD cycle are presented in detail. This book also presented a new performance parameter called Universal performance ratio (UPR) based on primary energy. This new UPR can be used for comparison of all kind of desalination processes by converting derived energies, such as electricity & thermal, utilized by the processes into primary energy. Detailed exergy model for combined water and desalination plants is also presented for primary fuel cost apportionment and unit water production cost calculation.
