Benthic macro-invertebrates are animals without back bone and spend their life cycle in the stream bottom. These benthic macro-invertebrates are a good indicator of surface water quality, due to their limited mobility. The fresh surface waters are affected by improper management of municipal, industrial wastes throughout developing countries including Ethiopia. These wastes deteriorate the quality of water and affect the aquatic life too. The variation in diversity and distribution of aquatic insects across habitats has influenced by habitat quality and environmental conditions of a particular area, but the habitat quality has a greater influence on the distribution of macroinvertebrates in the habitat
