About the author
Bryce Traister is a Professor of English and American Studies at University of Western Ontario. Born in Southern California, he holds a Ph.D. in English from University of California, Berkeley. He has published widely on American literary studies and methodology. He is the author of Female Piety and the Invention of American Puritanism (2016) and is a past President of the Canadian Association of American Studies.
Summary
This book seeks to represent and advance contemporary interest in early American studies. It contains thirteen original essays about Puritan culture in colonial New England that invite readers to reconsider the role of seventeenth-century Puritanism in the creation of the United States of America and its consequent cultural and literary histories.
