Die Punkte also, in welchen u verschwindet, müssen auf Linien stetig vertheilt sein. Es lässt sich aber wieder nicht schliessen, dass die Punkte, in denen a einen constanten Werth hat, auf Linien stetig vertheilt sein müssen; es können sowohl Punkte als Linien des Maxi mums oder Minimums vorkommen, wie schon das Beispiel der F unc tion zeigt.
