About the author










John Campbell is Executive Director of The Conversations Group, a group of coaching and consulting practices that specialise in providing coaching and coach training services to the school education sector across Australia, and now in the UK, the Middle East and Asia.

Under John's leadership the practice has grown to over 35 staff and associates with more than 5000 educational leaders having participated in the GCI Coaching Accreditation Program and many thousands more in shorter coaching skill development programs. Over 7000 participants took part on GCI workshops in 2014 alone. In recent years John and his team have lead a wide range of coaching projects in the education sector. Some of these include:
- Leading large scale coach development programs for senior educational leaders through the Bastow Institute of Educational Leadership in Victoria, the Queensland Educational Leadership Institute and the Institute of Professional Learning in Western Australia
- Hosting the national Coaching in Education Conference that attracts delegates from all over Australia and the Asia Pacific region
- Co-hosting with the Positivity Institute, the International Symposium for Coaching and Positive Psychology in Education.

John is the author of the Team Leadership Coaching Guide, as well as the chapter, "Coaching in Schools," in the forthcoming book, Coaching in Professional Contexts (Sage). He has had several short articles published in The Australian Leader, the Journal of Australian Council for Educational Leaders. In addition he lectures in the University of NSW Masters Degree in Educational Leadership, Coaching and Mentoring Module and has been a guest lecturer in the Masters in Coaching program at the University of East London.

Christian van Nieuwerburgh
is a well respected executive coach, internationally recognized academic, and sought-after consultant. He is a Senior Lecturer in Coaching Psychology at the University of East London. He lectures on a number of MSc programs in the School of Psychology, undertakes ground-breaking research and international collaborations in coaching and supervises academic dissertations.

Seen as an international authority in the field of coaching, he has been invited to speak at conferences in the US, the UK, Europe, Australia and the Middle East. He regularly presents on the topics of coaching, motivation, mental toughness and leadership. Christian has written a number of peer-reviewed journal articles and chapters about coaching.

Christian is particularly passionate about the power of coaching in educational settings. He is the editor of Coaching in Education: Getting Better Results for Students, Educators and Parents (2012), which is now one of the key textbooks in the field. He is also the author of An Introduction to Coaching Skills: A Practical Guide (2014).

Christian defines himself as an engaged academic practitioner, committed to the useful interplay of theory, research and practice. Students, delegates, clients and peers describe him as an inspirational educator and empowering coach.
