De pronto, nueve campanadas sonoras resbalaron con metálico frío sobre mi epidermis. Mis ojos, en la última esperanza, cayeron sobre la puerta más cerca na: aquél era el término.
Entonces, para disponer mi ánimo, retrocedí hacia los motivos de mi presencia en aquel lugar. Por la ma nana, el correo me había llevado una esquela breve y sugestiva. En el ángulo del papel se leían, manuscritas, las señas de una casa. La fecha era del día anterior. La carta decía solamente.
