Elle consiste, pour la recherche, à remonter vers les origines jusqu'à ce que l'on retrouve l'état d'esprit où ce qui est devenu plus tard inintelligible o'u déraisonnable était le produit d'un raisonnement simple, parfaitement intel ligible; pour l'exposition, à refaire en sens inverse'le chemin parcouru. On me permettra de dire que j'ai été encouragé à y persévérer par les constatations que j'ai pu faire depuis. En suivant, non pas de très près, mais avec assez d'attention.
