Il concetto di verme: che per Linneo abbracciava tutti quegli animali che non fossero artropodi O vertebrati, si è oramai ristretto a comprendere solo le forme inferior1 di animali bilaterali o, per meglio dire, le forme di bilatèrn che non rientrano, più 0 meno chiaramente, nei quattro tipi superiori: molluschi, artropodi, echinodermi e cordonii.
