The senior citizens in many metros in India are alone either due to the nuclear family system or the migration of their children abroad. With age and deteriorating health, they need support and assistance in their day-to-day life. India is the global diabetic capital and the hub of NCDs of the world and most of the sufferers are the senior citizens. Sedentary lifestyle and lack of awareness has resulted in the increase of the incidence of NCDs among the senior citizens. The Government of India and some NGOs are taking efforts for their welfare, but they are unable to reach out to the entire community of senior citizens. This is due to the surge in the demand for health care and other services. The study is an effort to understand and analyze their needs and support the initiatives already being taken by the organizations in this direction. The outcome is a model that leverages the power of cloud computing so that every senior citizen across the country can virtually access the system. The proposed Cloud Based Model for Senior Citizens Wellness Management helps to build an elder friendly eco system that promotes senior citizens wellness, and makes ageing a pleasant experience.
