Le calcul g¿¿ique a ¿ devin¿ar Leibniz (1679) (1) qui, le premier, reconnut l'opportunit¿ou plut¿tla n¿ssit¿d'op¿r directement sur les ¿ments g¿¿iques, tandis que la G¿¿ie analytique op¿ sur des nombres qui ont une relation indirecte avec les ¿ments qu'ils repr¿ntent. Mais l'op¿tion g¿¿ique, introduite par Leibniz, n'a pas les propri¿s ordinaires des op¿tions alg¿iques; aussi l'auteur n'a - t - il pu pousser bien loin les recherches g¿¿riques.
