M.A. Gopalan is momenteel hoogleraar wiskunde aan het Shrimathi Indira Gandhi College, Thiruchirappalli. Hij is geïnteresseerd in het oplossen van problemen op het gebied van Diofantijnse vergelijkingen en getallenpatronen. Hij is lid van de redacties van IJPMS en IJAR en lid van de Kerala Mathematics Association.
