The EMU attracted economists as a rich case study and a living laboratory to examine economic and monetary integration. But it was not just economists who dealt with the process. Political scientists particularly those who tried to theorize the European integration also focused on EMU. Developments in economic and monetary integration during the 80s paved way for reopening of theoretical discussion in early 90s. This work aims to shed light on a small part of these discussions and provide a humble critique of the Eclectic Theory.
