« Fondamentalement, les portraits pourraient être divisés en trois catégories : ceux qui aident le spectateur à mieux connaître la personne représentée, ceux dans lesquels le spectateur peut " voir " l'essence même du photographe et ceux dans lesquels l'individu représenté et le photographe sont " visibles ", ce dernier type étant de loin le plus précieux.
Le travail de Laura Pannack répond parfaitement à la définition de cette troisième catégorie de portraits, à la fois grâce à une compétence technique irréprochable et une élégance naturelle remarquable. L'empathie exacerbée qu'elle témoigne envers l'objet de son intérêt, combinée à sa capacité à trouver et à faire surgir des moments intimes et subtils de la vie quotidienne, fait de son projet Youth Without Age, Life Without Death (" Jeunesse sans âge, vie sans mort ") un poème visuel sur un monde voué à disparaître, comme il en est au final de tout monde. Entre photographie documentaire et décors Imaginaires, les espaces, les rituels, les personnes et les objets parmi lesquels elle " a vécu " dans un endroit reculé de la Roumanie, et qu'elle nous a " rapportés ", deviennent ainsi une véritable métaphore universelle de la fragilité de la vie. »
« It could be said that there are three basic types of portraits: the ones that help the viewer to know the portrayed individual; the ones in which the viewer can " read " the essence of the photographer; and the type in which both the portrayed and the photographer are " visible ", which is the most precious kind of portraiture. Laura Pannack's work perfectly fits in the third category of portraiture, with impeccable technical skills and remarkable natural elegance.
The combination between a very sensitive empathy for the object of her interest and the capacity to find and show intimate and delicate moments of the everyday life make her project Youth Without Age, Life Without Death a visual poem about a world confined to disappear, as any world is, in the end. A mixture between documentary shots and imaginary sets, the spaces, routines, people and objects she " lived " among in a remote place in Romania and " brought " us to see become a universal metaphor of the vulnerability of life. »
