Les voyageurs dont je parle ont tous des noms qui se recommandent à l'estime et à l'attention du public. Leurs ouvrages sont connus; c'est leur physionomie que je me suis surtout appliqué à peindre. En effet, il y a quelque chose de plus intéressant à étudier qu'un voyage bien fait c'est un voyageur original. Dans tous ces récits où l'homme se montre aux prises avec l'inconnu et l'imprévu. C'est son histoire qui nous amuse. C'est celle - là surtout que j'ai racontée.
