Mme Violan avait compté jusqu'à un certain point sur ce voyage à Hyères; elle croyait au hasard qui écrit les mariages dans le ciel, et il lui semblait que quelque parti convenable devait se trouver sur son chemin. En effet, dès son arrivée à Hyères elle put raisonnable ment concevoir quelques espérances; deux jeunes gens habitaient le rez - de-chaussée de la maison dont elle avait loué le second étage deux jeunes gens de Paris, un peu originaux un peu sauvages, au dire de ces demoiselles, mais de si bon air, de si belles manières, qu'on pourrait leur passer quelques défauts.
