Excerpt from Laws of the State of New Hampshire, Passed June Session, 1885
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened: section 1. That the clerks of the supreme court shall, at the close of each term in their respective counties at which divorces are granted, make return to the registrar of Vital statistics of the number of divorces decreed at that term, the causes thereof, the sex of the libellant, and the date of the decree.
