About the author

Anthony Caesar is an English clergyman, organist and composer. From 1979 to 1991 he was Subdean of the Chapels Royal, and during this period was also the music editor of the New English Hymnal.

Summary

for SATB (with divisions) and organAnthems for Easter, Pentecost and Dedication/Patronal Festivals which need a proficient choir, but are not excessively demanding.

Additional text

The amalgamation of this [plainsong] chant with the SATB and divisi writing has been skilfully done, and each piece amply justifies its purpose, which is to create a fitting and inspiring atmosphere at the very beginning of worship: choirs will enjoy these introits greatly, and the organ part makes no unreasonable demands, but the director needs to be both sensitive and imaginative, with a feeling for colour and liturgy.
