It also details the influence of the two previous generations of decoy makers and artists on the current carvers. The text provides a fascinating history of bird carving and details of the lives and work of each carver included. A bibliography is also provided. The bird carvings presented provide readers and students of the art form with some of the finest examples of contemporary bird carvings.

About the author










Kenneth Basile has been working with North American bird carvings since 1973, when he began his work with Chesapeake Bay at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, Maryland. He presently the director of the Ward Museum at Salisbury University, Salisbury, Maryland.
