While advances in health technology over the last several decades have greatly improved life span and welfare in society, it is often perceived that the cost of these innovations has not been adequately offset by their benefit. Increased health care budgets in most countries have emphasized the need to demonstrate value for money from expenditure on health technologies. This book aims to establish measures that secure the provision of safe and effective quality medicines to Sudanese patients at reasonable prices. The strategies that are advocated throughout the book are based on the premise that the best value for money does not necessarily mean the lowest initial price option, but rather the best return on the money spent to meet the population's need for medicines and other medical technologies.
