The Masuku Mission area is located in Choma district of southern province of Zambia. It is underlain by lithostratigraphic units of the Mesoproterozoic age Choma-Kalomo Block, which is part of the southern extension of the Irimide Mobile Belt. Geological events in the Choma-Kalomo Block are dated between 1600 and 950Ma. Pegmatites of the study area are part of the Sn-bearing pegmatites of the Choma-Kalomo Tinbelt of Southern Province, Zambia and are an important potential source for tin, tantalum, gemstones and Rare Earth Elements (REE).

About the author

Born on the Zambian Copperbelt in Kitwe and a few years later grew up and did most of my education in Lusaka. Mr. Mwenya Lungu studied Geology from the year 2007 to 2012 at the University Of Zambia. He is now working as a Group Geologist at Berkeley Mineral Resources (BMR) Group Plc. His interests are Exploration and Mine Geology.
