Les lettres de j.-f. Reichardtontété écrites pen dant les premiers mois de l'année 1792. Quel ques fragments parurent immédiatement, sans nom d'auteur, dans le Journal musical de Berlin, dont Reichardt était le principal rédacteur; la suite complète a été livrée au public dans deux volumes imprimés à Berlin, le premier à la fin de 1792, le second au début de 17931. Elles ont donc le mérite d'avoir été données sous l'impression du moment, sans subir un de ces remaniements qui dénaturent souventle caractère primesautier d'écrits semblables, édités à une date éloignée des événe ments qu'ils relatent.
