Nationalism as practiced in many countries has often its atrocities. Bulgarian nationalism and Turkish minority living in Bulgaria is a good example to show what such a nationalism is. The nationalist education forms pupils' minds in schools and when they grow up, they act with nationalist sentiments. So the mechanism of nationalist rule is in place spontaneously through the education. Even if the nationalist literature is a bit out of the educational agenda today, generations have been indoctrinated with nationalism. Bulgaria needs decades to become a pluralist state, because it will take time to have new generations who will not be educated with nationalist literature full of Turkish hatred. After the fall of the Soviet Union Bulgaria turned to democracy, but nationalism has remained as it was before. The constitution is complexly designed regarding Turkish minority values.
