Informationen zum Autor Prof. Inna P. Borovinskaya is one of the authors of the scientific discovery “The phenomenon of wave localization of auto-inhibited solid phase reactions? (“The Phenomenon of Solid Flame?) which gave rise to the development of the scientific direction of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis. In 1987, together with the group headed by A.G. Merzhanov, she started working in the newly established Institute of Structural Macrokinetics and Materials Science (ISMAN). The laboratory of SHS problems and some other laboratories were transformed into the SHS Research Center headed by Prof. I.P. Borovinskaya. Her research interests include chemistry and experimental diagnostics of mechanisms of SHS processes, material science and technology of SHS products, and development of advanced inorganic materials. Among the remarkable results achieved by Prof. I.P. Borovinskaya and her co-authors during the fruitful work on the subject are those on combustion mechanism of metals in nitrogen, fundamental regularities in filtration combustion of porous solids in reactive gas, synthesis of nitrides (including new compounds and phases), new displays of unstable combustion, for example, front auto-oscillation and spin waves, chemical routes of SHS reactions, development of SHS technologies of simple and composite refractory compounds, production of nitride ceramics in SHS gas-static reactors, forced SHS densification of hard alloys, etc. Some of her results were realized on an industrial scale in Russia and abroad. Prof. I.P. Borovinskaya is the author of more than 200 scientific works and the holder of over 100 patents. She is a member of the Academic Council of ISMAN and some Academic Councils of other research institutes and a member of editorial boards of journals. She is an honorary professor of Wuhan Polytechnic Institute (1983) and Harbin Institute of Technology (1995). In 2002 she became an academician of the World Academy of Ceramics (WAC). In 1996 she was awarded the National Prize of the Russian Federation and in 1999 received the Order of Friendship for the discovery and development of SHS. In 1980 she became a laureate of the National Prize of Armenia for her active participation in various directions of SHS and its industrial implementation. Prof. I.P. Borovinskaya was awarded the International Ceramic Prize – 2008 for fundamental studies in SHS as well as other medals and honorary awards of various countries. Prof. Alexander Gromov is currently working at the Process Engineering Faculty, Nuremberg Technical University Georg Simon Ohm, Nuremberg, Germany. He obtained his academic degrees from Bijsk Technologic Institute (1998, Chem.Eng.) and Tomsk Polytechnic University (2000, PhD). Since 2001 he has worked at Tomsk Polytechnic University (Russia), University of Ulsan (South Korea), and Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe and Fraunhofer Institute of Chemical Technology (Germany). He was a visiting professor at the Aerospace Engineering Department of Milan Polytechnic University in 2011-2013 before obtaining the Humboldt Grant for Experienced Researchers and moving to Nuremberg Technical University George Simon Ohm in 2013. Prof. Gromov has authored over 100 scientific publications and several books and has received numerous scientific awards, including the Russian Academy of Science Medal in 2009. He is also a member of the European Committee of the "Global Energy Prize." Prof. Evgeny Alexandrovich Levashov has served as Head of the Division of Powder Metallurgy and Functional Coatings since 2003, and since 1989, Head of the Scientific-Educational Center of SHS (SHS-Center MISiS-ISMAN), the National University of Science and Technology “MISiS,? Moscow, Russia. He received a PhD (1987) in Powder Metallurgy and Composite Materials from the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys (MISiS) and a Dr.Sc. (1996) in Chemical Physics, Physics of Combustion and Explosion, and became Professor (1997) on specia...
